The Mental Edge: Own Your Mind, Own Your Game

When these challenges become too much for our clients to handle alone, we’re here to support them with the best tools, knowledge, and network available. Navigating sensitive and stressful conversations about mental health requires expertise from both our staff and their teammates.

That’s why, in partnership with the NHLPA, we’ve launched an initiative to enhance our understanding and skills in mental health and wellness. We’re proud to offer our registered agents the First Line Ready course, which will help them better support our clients. We fully support the NHLPA in its efforts to assist players with their mental health. Additionally, we are working with the Mental Health Commission of Canada’s Opening Minds Training to develop a program for all unregistered staff, aiming to make this a standard practice across the industry.

We’re excited to announce “The Faceoff Against Stigma Project,” our in-house initiative aimed at encouraging our clients to get involved with mental health initiatives in their NHL cities or hometowns. Whether they face their own struggles or know someone who does, now is the time to use their platform to raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding mental health and wellness.

We also understand that everyone has their own path to wellness, and not everyone is comfortable with traditional therapy. That’s why we’re always looking for alternative options and treatments. We’ve connected with Equine Healing Solutions and Tim Risler, who offer a more organic and relaxed approach to addressing mental health challenges.

Together, we aim to shine a light on our industry and ensure that those who seek help know they will not be judged. Thank you for your support!

“The biggest thing – this goes for not just a goalie, but for everyone –
is that many people don’t consider the mental health awareness part.
There are people you can talk to; you need to get away from the game.”
